Tango’s Big Adventure
Tameside Schools Tour: 21st March – 1st April 2022
Approximate running time: 45 minutes
The play is performed by three actors playing all the characters. Puppetry is used to tell the inspirational true story of Tango - a baby penguin raised by Roy and Silo, two male Chin-strap penguins in Central Park Zoo.
Tango’s adventure takes the audience on a journey through Central Park Zoo, meeting some extraordinary animals along the way, including Clarence the Clownfish, a very protective stay-at-home Dad, Sheldon the Seahorse, exhausted after giving birth to 2000 babies, Mickey the Meerkat who lives with his sisters and Ella the baby elephant who is brought up by her Granny and Aunties. Tango learns the true meaning of family and some truly terrible jokes in this fast and funny production.
The story of Tango was the subject of the acclaimed book “And Tango makes three” and is used by many teachers to introduce the idea of different families.
Tango’s Big Adventure is a unique way of teaching about what family means and encourages pupils to celebrate difference and diversity.
All actors are vaccinated, regularly tested and will follow each individual school’s Covid policy.
